Fantasy bestseller Fourth Wing has been propelled back into the spotlight since the release of the third book in the series, Onyx Storm, earlier this year. With the new instalment comes renewed rumours about when the dragon-riding phenomenon might hit our screens. Here, we reveal everything there is to know so far about the potential Fourth Wing TV series.
Is Fourth Wing being made into a TV Series?
Yes, it’s official: Fourth Wing is in the early stages of television adaptation. Amazon MGM Studios and Michael B. Jordan’s production company The Outlier Society are working together to bring Violet Sorrengail and her fellow dragon-riders to life on the small screen in the near future.
When is the Fourth Wing TV Series coming out?
Deadline first reported Amazon MGM Studio’s acquisition of the rights for the adaptation in October 2023, but we’ve yet to hear of a release date for the series. It’s believed to be in very early stages of development, which means we’re likely to have a few more years to wait. When it is released, it’s likely to be exclusive to Amazon Prime.
What else do we know about the Fourth Wing TV Series?
Very little information is available so far, but we do know that Moira Walley-Beckett has been appointed Show Runner for Fourth Wing. This means she will oversee pretty much everything, from the casting to the writing. Moira Walley-Beckett is most famous for her award-winning work on Breaking Bad, for which she wrote nine episodes and acted as producer.
Is Fourth Wing going to be a movie?
No, it’s unlikely there will be a Fourth Wing movie any time soon.
What is Fourth Wing about?
Fourth Wing is a fantasy novel for adults that follows 20-year-old Violet Sorrengail who is forced by her General mother to leave behind her dream of becoming a Scribe to follow in the footsteps of her brother and sister, both dragon riders. Becoming a dragon rider may sound awesome, but here’s the catch: to become one, you must survive brutal Squad Battles and War Games, not to mention a gravity defying obstacle course and of course the fire-breathing creatures themselves. It’s equal parts horrifying and mesmerising, with a spicy helping of romance to boot.
