Labyrinth is a classic family board game we keep coming back to

There’s something so simple yet addictive about this maze moving board game that can be enjoyed by the whole family, young or not so young.

Ok, we have a confession: we played the Labyrinth board game for the very first time in 2023. Its original release dates all the way back to 1986. We couldn’t resist getting our hands on the beautiful Disney 100 Edition (available here from Amazon). On our first play through it was just two adults in their 30s playing it. We got totally stuck in. You can get pretty dirty with your tactics if you’re feeling particularly competitive here.

Fast forward a few months and we added our four year old daughter to the mix. She’s quite new to family board games, but we’re trying some out. She played on a team with an adult, and despite the seven and up age rating, she definitely understood the aim of the game and enjoyed placing the pieces then following the paths we’d made. It won’t be long before she can make some of the strategic decisions herself.

It’s quick to play at around 20 to 30 minutes a game, and you can have up to four players. Two players is very fun, but four can be even more fun with chaos ensuing as you move paths that will impact other players (sometimes you may even move the player).

A mixture of players can enjoy this true family game. We love it!

The Labyrinth board game’s long life so far means there are loads of different editions to choose from. We’ve already mentioned our Disney 100 Edition, but others we think look great include:

The original, Pokémon Labyrinth and Super Mario Labyrinth. There is also a Junior version available.
