An overview of everything we’ve been watching this week across streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney+
We’re back with a weekly round-up of TV shows we’ve been watching, new and old. We’re sharing everything we’ve been watching, whether that’s the new releases everyone is talking about, blasts from the past, or hidden gems we’ve found buried in the libraries of our favourite streaming services.
On Netflix
Emily In Paris
Emily In Paris is back for season four, and it’s one of those shows we love to binge despite it being… well, kinda terrible. It’s loads of fun, a bit silly and totally swoon worthy, and we can’t get enough of it. Are you team Alfie or team Gabriel?
Love Is Blind UK
We do have to watch this from behind a pillow because it has a very, very high cringe level, but Love Is Blind has always been a TV highlight for us and the UK version didn’t disappoint. It’s reality TV at its finest, and the key thing here is that these couples, who get engaged without ever seeing one another and then have to make the decision about whether to go through with the wedding a few weeks later, have a pretty good track record of staying together. 10 couples from the six US seasons are still married many years later.
King of Collectibles
If you’re into collectibles or trading cards, this is an entertaining reality TV show about an auction house in the US that specialises in Sports Memorabilia, but is branching out into new areas such as pop culture and tech. It’s incredible to see how much some of these vintage items are worth.
On NOW / Sky
The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live
The Walking Dead is right up there among our favourite TV shows ever, so whilst we love that here we get to see more from our favourite characters after the show itself has ended, this was a disappointing spinoff for us. It was a bit too much of a romance and the characters didn’t feel the same as they did in the main show. Do you remember when Friends did that spinoff for Joey and Joey just wasn’t Joey anymore? It’s like that all over again.
From
This was a recommendation from friends. We watched it whilst we had the Now subscription to watch The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. There are two seasons so far and we’ve not quite finished but it is brilliant. Terrifying but brilliant. Think Lost (in fact it’s by the same creators) – you’ll come away with more questions than answers. It’s about a family that find themselves stuck in a town that no one has been able to escape from, and this town just so happens to also have terrifying zombie/vampire creatures that come out at night and kill you. Expect nightmares!
On Disney+
Avatar: Way of the Water
Very late to the party here but we like to share the old gems as well as the new, and we loved watching the latest Avatar movie. We then rewatched the first one, and we’re excited to see where this story goes next. It’s such an unusual and stunningly animated world.
Culprits
Culprits is a crime drama that’s gripping, a bit funny at times and thoroughly entertaining. It’s only eight episodes long and we watched this within a few nights.
On Amazon Prime
The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare
A war movie that is both action-packed and funny. Starring Henry Cavill and Alan Ritchson, it’s based on a true story set during World War II and was directed by Guy Ritchie, who also directed the popular The Gentlemen TV show currently on Netflix. You can watch this one now on Amazon Prime.
